3-month Sadhana Course in Haa Course Center in Southern Sweden. http://www.yogameditation.com/

I arrived at the course with some evening courses in my backpack and it was my first retreat. People were friendly and I met a lot of interesting people. There were people from all walks of life and from all over the world.

Quite quickly I realised this was not going to be a relaxing vacation. I was sharing room with a guy who had some problems with his knees and pretty soon he had to leave the course because it was to demanding of his knees to sit still for long periods of time. Tasks were distributed each day and I wanted to keep my muscles in shape so I enlisted in the heavy work available. The food was good vegetarian food although I felt it was lacking a bit when it comes to protein and nutrition such as the omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D. I also noticed that some of the teachers were really thin. I do not consider myself to be extremely into food and nutrition but it was a bit scary that the attitude seemed to be that if you do yoga you can ignore what doctors and other authorities say about food and nutrition. This was an attitude that somehow seemed to be the attitude for the whole school. My personal view is more that they should go hand in hand. Both yoga and proper medical treatment I think is necessary if you get cancer for example.

the teaching was really good and in depth and I got a lot out of that. During a 30-day period we held silence and that was really a strong experience.

I remember being out in the forest cutting wood in heavy rain. In that way the course was very balanced in the sence that they mixed work with yoga in a good way.
As a whole the course was very much a hands on experience and I very much liked to go through this. I really felt that I went deep into myself and that I realised that there are a lot of people out there who are also into this long journey of exploring your inner depths.

+ nice atmosphere and great nature surrounding the place
+ good practical teaching about yoga

+ dancing was a lot of fun

+ very strong focus and dedication from the teachers.

– food tasted good but not really nutritious in all aspects

– no follow up on people leaving the course once you were back in “society” again.

– A society in the society bordering towards Sectarianism

    Mvh,

    Josefin
